Kannur: The High Court has ordered interim medical examination of Akash Tillankeri, who is in high security jail after he assaulted an officer of Viyyur Central Jail. It is suggested to check whether Akash got injured in the attack in the jail. The court directed the Viyyur Jail Superintendent to present him before the Thrissur District Hospital Superintendent. The court said that the medical report and the CCTV footage of the day of the incident should be produced in the court on Friday.
Akash is accused in the gold smuggling case. The court intervened in the habeas corpus petition filed by Akash’s father. The petition sought a direction to produce Akash in the High Court. Akash Tilangeri assaulted the assistant warden of the jail following some dispute regarding the use of the phone. Following this, the prison officer sought treatment at the Mulangunnathuckav Medical College. Police have also registered a case in connection with the incident.
The jailer who was called for questioning on suspicion of using the phone in the jail was also beaten up by Akash Thillankeri. The incident took place in Viyyur Central Jail. Asst. Jailer Rahul was beaten up. Rahul sought treatment at Thrissur Medical College Hospital after the beating. A complaint has been filed against Akash Tillankari in Viyur police. Viyur police informed that they will record the statement and file a case. Shuhaib murder case accused Akash Tillankari is a Kappa prisoner. After the incident, Akash was shifted to a special cell in the maximum security prison.
Shuhaib was killed on February 12, 2018 in an attack following a series of political tensions. Shuhaib was hacked to death by a group of assailants while he was eating at a thatt shop in Kannur Terur in the middle of the night. The attack took place after the bombing and creating a terror atmosphere. The assailants delayed taking Shuhaib and his companions to the hospital. Shuhaib bled to death before being taken to Kozhikode Medical College. Akash Tillankeri and Deep Chand, accused in the case, were later expelled from the CPM.
