In view of the high Corona numbers, the district of Uelzen – as in the previous year – banned the Easter bonfires as a precaution. “From today’s perspective, it is already foreseeable that the meeting of larger groups of people on the Easter weekend at the beginning of April will not be responsible with regard to the infection process,” said District Administrator Heiko Blume (CDU) according to a statement on Wednesday. The district has already pointed out that this year no shrub cuttings may be collected for Easter bonfires, this should instead be used on their own property. It is also forbidden to dispose of vegetable waste in the forest or in the open countryside.
