Stretching and jogging, which is the most effective in the treatment of blood pressure?
According to a study conducted by Canadian scientists at the University of Saskatchewan, the results of which were published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health stretching is more efficient. They would lower blood pressure better.
“When you stretch the muscles, you also stretch all the blood vessels that nourish the muscles, including the large arteries. If you reduce the stiffness of the arteries, the resistance to blood flow will decrease, ”explained to EurekAlert Phil Chilibeck, one of the co-authors.
40 people with an average age of 61 participated in the experiment. During the exercise, they had to stretch or jog five days a week for half an hour and their pressure before and after the experience was measured.
In those who did stretching, a more significant decrease in pressure was noticed than in those who practiced jogging. The latter exhibited a loss of body fat at the waist, reports Sputnik.
