High award for the cafeteria at the Med University of Graz

The cafeteria on the Med Uni Graz campus received the highest award for communal catering Styria vitalis awarded. As a non-profit, independent non-profit organization, Styria vitalis has stood for health promotion and prevention in Styria since 1973 and supports kindergartens, schools, communities and companies through advice, coaching, project development and support, moderation and qualifications.

The “Green Kitchen” label means wholesome, vegetarian dishes and menus that are creatively combined with seasonal and regional ingredients. Companies that receive this seal of quality completely avoid finished products and rely on fresh food every day, the high quality of which is guaranteed by careful preparation. The “Green Kitchen” label is awarded by Styria vitalis to particularly committed restaurateurs and community caterers.

The Styrian canteens have been awarded the “Green Plate” since 2018. This certificate recognizes communal catering facilities in accordance with the Styrian minimum standards. The cafeteria on the Med Uni Graz campus now goes one step further. It is the first cafeteria in Austria to have its offerings certified according to the criteria of a balanced, plant-based and wholesome diet.

This high award confirms the excellent work that is being done in the cafeteria of the Med Uni Graz. “As a team, we have set ourselves the goal of offering our guests a regional, seasonal, wholesome and healthy diet with the “Green Kitchen”. Many thanks to my head chef Horst Wolfgruber and the entire team,” says operations manager Christian Jokesch the awarding of this important seal of quality.
