Hideo Kojima’s new podcast isn’t for everyoneFortunately, this isn’t the only place we can turn to for game development stories he’s been working on. This way the idea is too boring to do Metal Gear Solid 3.
The last episode of Do you know the games?– only seen by original The Snake actor David Hayter – completely covers the content that was cut from the series, drawing on information released in old interviews (great love of quotes from Plus it) and books. There are gun things that were really crazy, story elements that never really worked, and gameplay clips that were cut and then turned into cinematic scenes.
However, the funniest and most interesting part of the video is the one about the boss fight it was planned for. Metal Gear Solid 3I entered the test and it ended so badly that the developers started Too bad for Kojima for this. Here’s the story from Kotaku AU:
Telling the story during production Metal Gear Solid 3Kojima fell in love with Stephen Hunter’s work master sniper And Point of impact, spoke of two snipers nestled in the mountains, gradually trying to kidnap each other. Kojima’s idea was that Snake’s boss with The End would be as close as possible to a real sniper fight, which would take place over the course of two weeks in real time. The player will have to use their surroundings to stay hidden and quiet, looking for clues in a huge area to determine where The End is hiding and, once spotted, prepare the perfect shot. Once again, it will end Two weeks in practice.
The crazy thing is that this boss fight has already reached the prototype stage. At one point it was a real part of a playable build. However, when it came time to examine the battle, no one who played was able to find any trace of the old man. Many players have spent hours searching for The End and found nothing, hampering their progress in the game. The team found the fight so boring that they started booing Kojima, convincing him to abandon the idea altogether.
I want to believe that this is the whole experience of working with Kojima, summed up in an anecdote. You can watch the full video below; Maybe you already know some, or maybe, like me, you know almost nothing and that’s 42 minutes of really interesting things!
