After Death Stranding, what will Kojima Productions’ next game be? We know Hideo Kojima’s desire to make a horror game, and if nothing concrete has yet been done, the Japanese creator has visibly contacted a master of the genre to work on the subject: the mangaka Junji Itō ( Tomie, Uzumaki, Gyo …).
As reported VG247, it was Junji Itō himself who revealed the information during an interview organized for Comic-Con 2020. Here is what he said, in response to a question asking if he is currently involved in a video game project :
The answer is no. But I do know Hideo Kojima, and we had a discussion that he could make a horror game. So he invited me to work on it, but there are no more details at the moment.
You should know that Junji Itō and Hideo Kojima are close friends, as the mangaka indicated in a interview last year. The two men were also to collaborate together on the aborted project Silent Hills. The duo could therefore have a new opportunity to reform. Last May, Hideo Kojima announced that Death Stranding has paid for itself and preparations for the next game from his studio Kojima Productions have started.
