Hidden Sign of Dementia Revealed: Dulling of Smell May Indicate Cognitive Decline, Study Finds

Can’t be ignored

According to research from scientists from the National Institute on Aging, there is a hidden sign of approaching dementia that “appears in the nose,” reports UfacityNews.ru.

We are talking about a dulling of smell. The results of the experiment, which involved 364 people, showed that a reduced ability to distinguish odors is associated with a high risk of cognitive problems.

This is the second work devoted to identifying the connection between the sense of smell and Alzheimer’s disease. In 2016, American scientists proved that the inability to recognize the smells of strawberries, menthol and lemon in a person signals an increased chance of developing dementia.

Earlier we reported that the chief therapist of the Ministry of Health explained why people get fat from stress.
