The messenger WhatsApp introduced the “Chat Filter” function in April. Buttons above the chat list allow you to quickly filter the list according to certain criteria. This means you can choose to display only unread messages, your favorite chats or your group chats. Pressing “All” takes you back to the usual chat overview. The filter buttons also offer a hidden function that the messenger has in his announcement If you hold your finger on one of the filters, a menu appears.
This allows you to mark all unread messages that match the filter criteria as read in one go, reports the Spanish online magazine XatakandroidIf you hold your finger on the “All” button, you can even mark all unread messages as read in one go.
Mark all unread messages as “read” in one go
This is particularly useful if you have already read a lot of WhatsApp messages on your smartwatch or in the notification bar. In this case, the messages are not automatically marked as read, but you had to open them individually for this to happen. Now all you need to do is click twice.

Soon, even these may no longer be necessary, as WhatsApp is currently testing an option that allows you to automatically mark all unread messages as read every time you open the app.
If you hold your finger down on the “Favorites” filter, the menu offers an additional option. This allows you to directly edit the list of your favorite chats.
