Hidalgo announces universal vaccination against covid to face third wave

The holder of the Health Secretary in Hidalgo (SSH), Alejandro Efraín Benítez Herrera, confirmed the start of the universal vaccination as of this August 9 as an immediate response to the acceleration of infections by covid-19.

At a press conference, the official pointed out that the objective is to vaccinate most of the population as soon as possible, since it has been shown that, despite not being the only solution against the pandemic, “vaccination represents a great ally.”

He stated that, according to the figures of hospitalized patients, 91 percent were not vaccinated; that is, patients who already have their complete scheme are usually only outpatients and without major complications.

He added that to achieve herd immunity it is necessary to vaccinate 85% of the population; However, he insisted that derived from the precarious participation, universal vaccination will be chosen, which contemplates that starting next Monday and according to the availability of doses, any person over 18 years of age may go to the vaccination centers to request the application of biological regardless of your municipality of residence or availability of hours.

In a first stage, he added, brigades will work through the Health Jurisdictions, in addition to the permanent headquarters that already operate in Pachuca at the Jesús del Rosal Health Center and the Tulancingo Health Center.

In addition, 39 permanent cells are projected to be added in Mineral de la Reforma, Cuautepec, Tula, Tezontepec, Huichapan, Tecozautla, Zimapán, Actopan, Ixmiquilpan, Metztitlán, Molango, Huejutla, Apan, Tizayuca, Tepeji, in the Otomí-Tepehua, Atotonilco el Grande, Jacala and Zacualtipán.
