A little over 50,000 people or 1.2% of the regional population are vaccinated. The campaign continues, but here and there, official decisions and changes in methods provoke reactions of incomprehension and questions. Everything is under control, says the ARS.

Bernard Beuzelin is a general practitioner in Cuverville in Calvados. Because he is a caregiver, he had a priority appointment to be vaccinated at the Caen CHU. However, the secretariat of the vaccination center contacted him to tell him that he would not ultimately not be vaccinated, “without any explanation”. The general practitioner then tries to understand why. He contacted the Normandy Regional Health Agency and the Prefecture. Still no explanation. He then called on the Regional Union of Liberal Doctors. Questioned by our teams, Antoine Leveneur, president of this body, also seeks to understand: “ There is a possible explanation for the registration platforms, the CHU had its own meeting platform, today we group all the meetings on a single platform, Doctolib, there is perhaps being had a cacophony, a communication problem, time to transfer and reorganize things.

“I do not believe it, notes Bernard Beuzelin, “I should have been reminded. If there are no more doses, no more vaccines, it must be said, in full transparency.” Asked about the case of this general practitioner, the prefect evokes an isolated case. We learned at the end of the afternoon that the CHU had called the doctor back and offered him a vaccination window.
More vaccinations for caregivers in the Aigle and Alençon hospitals
On the side of hospital caregivers, in l’Aigle, in Orne, the staff received a note from their management indicating that ” at the request of the Regional Health Agency of Normandy, the first injection vaccinations of health professionals over 50 or with co-morbidities have been stopped (…). ” The nursing staff concerned is invited to register like everyone else on Doctolib. “Or three weeks of waiting minimum” according to Marc Provost, secretary of the CGT union at the Aigle hospital.
On his Facebook page, the union expresses its anger. “They make fun of us caregivers: We have just learned of the decision of the ARS (Regional Health Agency), in agreement with the prefects, of the reorientation of vaccines intended for caregivers towards city vaccination centers. ”
“Concretely, this means that the second injections of the vaccine will be provided but that there will be no new ones for the staff, the doses have been recovered”, says the trade unionist.
At the Alençon hospital, there too, two weeks after it opened and, after having vaccinated a thousand people, the center must cease all activity. “ We’re angry because we feel like we are pawns ” , expresses Sonia Cauchin, head of the medicine department of the Alençon hospital.
Here again, health professionals (doctors, nurses, home helpers, nursing assistants) who had made an appointment will have to turn to the other vaccination centers in the department.
I do not want users to think that it is the Alençon hospital that does not respond to its missions. It would be wrong to say that. We are fully committed, all of us.
The head of the medicine pole of the Alençon hospital is now calling on the health authorities to establish “a clean and clear vaccination schedule”. Contacted, the ARS has not yet provided us with answers.
Mobile vaccination unit in Ouistreham
Since the start of vaccination in Calvados on Wednesday January 6, 10 centers have been opened in Calvados to eligible people. A mobile vaccination team completes this device as was the case this Thursday, January 21 in Ouistreham.
Philippe Court, Prefect of Calvados, explains that “ this team will have to vaccinate around thirty people who will have made an appointment beforehand, in half a day. ” To bring in this unit, the mayors of municipalities far from the vaccination centers who so wish must make an appointment with the Prefecture.
The opportunity to question the Prefect on the lack of dose of the vaccine from Pfizer and Biontech … which recognizes depending on the doses provided by the American laboratory … It is also impossible to know the exact number of doses for Normandy.
