Cuban trucker Dayren Rocubert, a resident of Hialeah, Florida, faces charges of vehicular manslaughter after causing a traffic accident in the state of Ohio, at the end of 2022.
Five people were killed in the crash, and while the defendant managed to have four counts of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter dropped and one of failing to maintain control of his vehicle, a tox test could change everything, revealing that the man was driving under the influence of methamphetamine, cocaine and amphetamines.
According to the local media Livingston DailyThe 29-year-old Cuban was scheduled to be sentenced in March, but this analysis could change everything and significantly increase the sentence he may receive.
“Only a misdemeanor charge was filed because there was no other information to suggest it was anything other than an accident,” Shelby County District Attorney Timothy Sell said of the charges that were previously dropped.
According to America TeVe, This new information caused the original proceeding to be dismissed, so the case will once again be submitted to a grand jury.
It is important to mention that, on February 16, the grand jury voted to charge the trucker with five felony counts of aggravated vehicular manslaughter, since one of the deceased, Karen Marie Boehne, was pregnant at the time of the accident.
“We are very lost here because of what this guy did. The courts will take care of that. From the point of view of being as irresponsible as him. That’s the problem. The Ohio courts are doing a good job and I think they will bring him to justice,” said Dave Hahn, Boehne’s father.
“He is a very irresponsible person, so he should be legitimately charged for what he did to kill my family. We’ll let the judicial system do its job for him, but this is definitely a felony. It is not a traffic ticket for a misdemeanor,” he added.
The incident occurred on December 24 on Interstate 75, when Rocubert was driving his truck north. This lost control and hit squarely against a GMC and a Ford in which four members of a family were traveling.
The deceased were later identified as Kimberly Ann Siegrist, 63 years old; her daughters, Lauren Marie Hahn, 32, and Karen Boehne, 33, and the husband of one of them, Jeremy David Ralph Boehne, 32.
