Lebanese newspapers published today, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, covered the state of confusion and division that the Zionist enemy entity is experiencing as a result of its inability to achieve any of the goals of its ground aggression against the Gaza Strip, in addition to the pressure exerted by the resistance fronts in the region in support of Gaza, and the West Bank, which is considered a source of Concern for the entity, which prompted the enemy to withdraw its largest and most important army divisions from Gaza, which is the “36th Division” and the elite special “Dovdovan” unit, and transfer them to the West Bank. The Al-Qassam Brigades revealed in a video clip of three prisoners that two of them were killed by occupation army fire, which increases the pressure on the enemy government to reach a deal that returns the Zionist prisoners, especially since the occupation army only succeeded in killing them.
At the level of the northern front, which has become the primary concern of Zionist and international officials because the settlers of the region refuse to return except after dealing with Hezbollah, the words of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasr, continue to cast their weight on the entity’s officials, as His Eminence confirmed that there is no talk about… The Lebanon front before stopping the aggression against Gaza, stressing the party’s readiness for war. This confirms the failure of the American special envoy Amos Hochstein in his mission to “remove Hezbollah from the borders” in the service of the enemy entity and its settlers, so he left convinced that there was no possibility of reaching understandings about the Lebanese borders before stopping the aggression against Gaza.
Construction: The occupation killed its prisoners with missiles instead of recapturing them
Without achieving any achievement in the field, and in light of assurances that whoever controls northern Gaza is the resistance, the occupation army announced the departure of its forces from the northern Gaza region, in the first practical step that includes an acknowledgment of the inability to subjugate Gaza and defeat its resistance, while political schizophrenia dominates the speech of the Prime Minister. The occupation, Benjamin Netanyahu, and his Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, continue to talk about continuing the war until victory and eliminating the Hamas movement and all other resistance forces.
This happened while a female prisoner in Gaza came out, in a video by Al-Qassam forces, during which they revealed the killing of two prisoners by occupation army missiles, which stirred the street, which was already angry at the lies of the political and military leaders, about the priority of releasing prisoners through the military operation, and everything says that the military operation kills. Prisoners, while “Tel Aviv” was experiencing the terror of a commando operation carried out by a young man from the West Bank, which is subjected to violation and humiliation every day, and its people are tasting the bitterness of the attacks that claimed hundreds of martyrs during a hundred days of war on Gaza. The commando stabbing and ramming operation resulted in the death of a female settler and the wounding of 19. Another settler’s wounds, four of them were described as serious.
On the political level, what was striking was the speech attributed to a member of the War Council, former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, who lost his son in the Gaza War. The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that Eisenkot said during a meeting of the Military Ministerial Council on Saturday evening: “We must stop lying to ourselves, and be patient.” With courage, we are heading towards a big deal that will return the kidnapped people to their homeland.” He added: “They (the prisoners) are running out of time, and every passing day puts their lives in danger. There is no point in continuing the same pattern in which they (the authorities) lead them like blind people, while the kidnapped people are there. “This is a critical time to make courageous decisions.”
In parallel with the Israeli impasse, there is an American-British impasse as a result of the aggression against Yemen, as the Yemeni armed forces announced the targeting of an American ship that caught fire, in response to the aggression that targeted Yemen with American-British raids two days ago, after an American aircraft carrier was hit, according to a Pentagon statement, by a Yemeni missile that was shot down by Military aircraft.
The words of Hezbollah Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, still dominate the internal scene and cast their weight on the Zionist entity and on the Americans, especially his declaration that the American-Israeli threat messages to launch an aggression against Lebanon do not intimidate Hezbollah, which is ready for confrontation in any future war.
It was noteworthy that the Israeli escalation following Sayyed Nasrallah’s speech launched new intensive raids on areas outside the rules of engagement.
Military experts point out to Al-Binaa that Sayyed Nasrallah succeeded in the dual psychological, media and moral war against the Israeli war government and its internal front, especially the settlers, specifically the displaced people from the Gaza Strip and occupied northern Palestine and the families of prisoners held by the Hamas movement, with the aim of pressuring “Israel” to sign… The aggression against Gaza and the start of the negotiation process on exchanging prisoners and lifting the siege on Gaza. Sayyed Nasrallah, who spoke on behalf of the axis of resistance, asserted that the fronts will remain burning in southern Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq until the aggression against Gaza stops.
The experts pointed out that the occupation government no longer has options after Sayyed Nasrallah’s words except to submit to the ceasefire, negotiate a prisoner exchange, and stop betting on the surrender of Hamas or the possibility of eliminating it under the pressure of the massacres it is committing against the civilians of the people of Gaza and their displacement. Benjamin Netanyahu’s government will also prepare for a thousand before expanding the aggression against Lebanon, after the words of Sayyed Nasrallah, who identified the enemy’s weaknesses and the resistance’s strengths by saying that we will go to war without controls and ceilings.
Experts also point out that “Israel” cannot wage a large-scale war against Lebanon in light of its drowning in the Gaza quagmire and after the strikes that the elite brigades were subjected to. However, experts warn of a foolishness committed by Netanyahu to get out of his major dilemma in Gaza. The experts noted the calm, reassurance and confidence that dominated Sayyed Nasrallah’s speech and his body language, which reflects, according to what those familiar with the field situation of the resistance told Al-Binaa, that those protecting Lebanon are not the Americans or the Europeans, but rather the deterrence equation that the resistance has established with the Israeli enemy. This is what prevents the Israelis from expanding their aggression against Lebanon. Insiders confirm that this deterrence equation is stable, protected, and effective, and has not been affected or damaged. The evidence is that the resistance is not deterred, but rather it opened the front on October 8 last, and that the Israeli enemy is deterred and afraid to expand the front and remains within a certain circle of bombardment, while the resistance responds to every escalation.
The resistance continued its bombardment of occupation sites, and Hezbollah announced “targeting a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the vicinity of the Mitat Barracks with missile weapons, causing direct hits.” He announced that the Birkat Risha site was targeted with appropriate weapons and the Metulla site. The party also targeted, once again, “the Barkat Risha site with Burkan missiles and achieved direct hits.”
The party’s military media published scenes from “the operation of the Islamic Resistance targeting a force belonging to the Israeli enemy army in the settlement of Kafr Yuval (occupied wheat camels) on the Lebanese-Palestinian border.”
He also published a video clip containing scenes from his military operations against Israeli positions on the southern Lebanese border, under the title “One Hundred Days…and between us and you are the days after that.”
News| Hochstein: Let Hezbollah retreat only 7 kilometers
Everything that Lebanese officials did not expect to hear from Special Envoy Amos Hochstein during his visit to Beirut last Thursday was stated in front of them. In the meeting that included him in the palace with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib, as well as members of the Lebanese and Lebanese delegations, he did not hesitate to say: “If the Israeli settler returns to his home in the north and opens his window in the morning, who will see in front of him?” Hezbollah is a shocking statement after it was preceded by another no less influential statement. He asked the Lebanese authorities to remove Hezbollah fighters seven kilometers beyond the Blue Line, with the Lebanese army replacing them “so that the settlers can return.” It is not even necessary to withdraw to the north of the Litani River.”
Then, in a tone that was not devoid of an implicit threat, he said: “Other than that, Israel will launch a war against Hezbollah, which, along with Lebanon, must learn from what happened in Gaza.”
Except for what was stated by the envoy, there is no substance and certainly no benefit to his visit.
When Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri visited him, he used a vague phrase, “cessation of hostilities,” by which he only meant what he mentioned in the palace. He carried with him only one fixed message around which a few marginal ideas revolved: returning the Israeli settlers to their settlements in the north of the occupied territories.
As for what the visitor heard from Lebanese officials without getting the answer he required, it is the following:
1 – What is happening in Gaza requires that it stop in order for the southern front to be closed. Therefore, the political solution in that situation automatically backfires on northern “Israel” by going after the ceasefire to sit at the negotiating table and find appropriate solutions.
2 – What “Israel” partially needs is what Lebanon fully requires, which is full implementation of Resolution 1701 on both sides of the Lebanese-Israeli border. The obligations and burdens imposed on Lebanon to fully implement the resolution are no less than those imposed on Israel. However, its full implementation requires that it be coupled with what the resolution itself originally stipulated, by fixing point B1 in Naqoura to the west, going to the liberation of the Shebaa Farms, passing through the 13 disputed border points, and withdrawing from the outskirts of the reoccupied town of al-Mari in 2006 after it had been included in the liberation in 2000. In return, Israel will permanently stop its air, sea and land violations, which Lebanon has previously documented 30,000 violations since 2006. The demilitarized zone is only equivalent to stopping violations.
3 – Lebanon believes that full implementation of the Security Council resolution is a real opportunity for serious and lasting stability at the international borders. He is the actual guarantor of both parties, not of either of them. However, the timing of implementation has become linked to stopping the Gaza war.
4 – The short distance that “Israel” wants for Hezbollah to retreat from the Blue Line is wanted by Lebanon in its entirety, according to what was stated in the resolution, which is a demilitarized zone south of the Litani River, except for the international force and the Lebanese army, provided that it extends to the Shebaa Farms by liberating it. “Israel” is not interested in settling the Lebanese-Syrian dispute over ownership of farms.
5 – Hockstein’s demonstration of his concern for the security of the Israeli settlers and their safe return to their settlements is not the first that Lebanese officials have heard. Most international visitors hardly agree with this argument. However, the first time was when the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, announced it on November 21, a month and a half after the outbreak of the Gaza War, to Bouhabib at the Brussels meeting, telling him that the return of settlers to their settlements “requires safe guarantees for them.” » You reassure them that what they witnessed with Hamas since last October 7 will not be repeated with Hezbollah. He spoke at that time about implementing Resolution 1701 through the peephole, addressing the part limited to removing Hezbollah and its fighters from the Blue Line. The Lebanese minister heard the same phrase at the Brussels meeting from Enrique Mora, Borrell’s assistant and the Iranian dialogue channel in Geneva.
When he visited Beirut again on January 6, a few days before Hockstein, Borrell reiterated the same position by limiting the problem to a concern about removing settlers from their settlements.
6 – What Lebanese officials conclude from what they hear from international visitors, the most recent of whom is the special envoy, the priority of the return of the settlers over the implementation of the Security Council as a first concern for the West as well as for Israel, while implementing Resolution 1701 has become a purely Lebanese demand. Some of them started talking about it in closed sessions, according to varying numbers about the Israeli settlers, sometimes 73 thousand, sometimes 80 thousand, and sometimes one hundred thousand. They are currently living displaced from their settlements at the expense of the Israeli government in hotels, resorts, and rented homes, which necessitates their safe return to their towns. Most of them had dual citizenship and threatened to leave the country.
One of the answers given to Hochstein in the palace when he spoke about this demand and set the limits of Hezbollah’s retreat at seven kilometers, “just no more to reassure the settlers,” was from the Minister of Foreign Affairs by confirming that Hezbollah’s retreat would be in accordance with the full implementation of Resolution 1701 to evacuate the area of weapons, “but it will not leave.” Definitely like the citizens of the border villages. These are their hometowns. They have no military barracks in the south. It is natural, then, that when the Israeli settler opens his window, he sees none other than Hezbollah in front of him. Let them build a great wall so that they will not see it.”
