The Shiite militia party Hezbollah has claimed this Sunday Iran’s “natural and legal right” to attack Israel in response to the Israeli bombing on April 1 against the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, Syria, in which 16 people died.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has exercised its natural and legal right despite threats, intimidation and pressure and has fulfilled its sincere promise with unparalleled courage, great wisdom and good sense in the face of the situation in the region and even in the world” , the group noted in a statement.
Hezbollah has stressed that, as Tehran maintains, “the operation has achieved its objectives.” “The long-term political and strategic objectives of this important event will become known in time as we enter a new phase of the Palestinian issue as a whole,” he said.
“The enemy is in the way of the inevitable victory of our Arab and Islamic nation and the resistance of the oppressed Palestinian people,” he added.
This Sunday, Iran fired more than 300 projectiles against Israel – drones, cruise and ballistic missiles –, the vast majority of them intercepted by Israel, in retaliation for a bombing attributed to Israel against its Consulate in Damascus (Syria).
