“Hezbollah” commander was killed in an Israeli strike in Lebanon

Ali Ahmed Hussein, the commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Forces, has been killed in an Israeli fighter strike in Sultaniyeh in southern Lebanon, Israel said, accusing the Hezbollah commander of attacks on Israeli targets in recent months.

At least two more people were killed in the strike, the Israeli army, Lebanese state media and security sources confirmed.

Hussein “commanded the Radwan Forces of the Hezbollah terrorist organization” in the Hujairah region, the Israeli army said, adding that two other Hezbollah fighters were killed in the strike.

Hezbollah confirmed that one of its fighters, Ali Ahmed Hussein, alias Abbas Jafar, had been killed, but the statement did not specify his rank or the circumstances of his death.

Lebanon’s official news agency reports that Israeli military jets raided an uninhabited house in Sultaniyeh, killing three people and injuring several others. Nearby buildings and infrastructure were also damaged during the airstrike, affecting at least ten families.

Hezbollah, an ally of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, has engaged in firefights with the Israeli army almost daily since Oct. 7, when an attack by Hamas militants in southern Israel sparked the war in the Gaza Strip.

Recently, Israel has been increasingly active in strikes inside Lebanon.

The previous war between Hezbollah and Israel was in 2006.
