Hezbollah: Claims responsibility for attack in northern Israel – 2024-08-11 03:48:13

An alert was sounded late Saturday afternoon (10/8) in northern Israel after a barrage of attacks, for which Hezbollah claimed responsibility.

The Lebanon-based group launched a drone and rocket attack in the Western Galilee, claiming it was targeting a military base near Magar.

According to the Times Of Israel, it targeted the IDF’s Michve Alon base, which it claims is used by the military as a base and ammunition depot, as well as for training purposes.

Hezbollah also says it carried out the attack in response to yesterday’s IDF strike near Sidon, which killed a senior Hamas member.

Footage posted on social media appears to show Hezbollah drones flying over the north.

“We will strike new positions deeper in the country”

Earlier this week, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, at a funeral he delivered after the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya in Tehran and Hezbollah military commander Fouad Shukr in Beirut, claimed that Israel was right to fears an attack from Iran and the “axis of resistance”.

“Israel is no longer the invincible power that defeated the largest Arab armies in previous wars, as today it must rely on the support of the US, the UK, France and some Arab countries to defend itself against an expected Iranian attack.” Nasrallah said.

He also said that “Israel is doing everything in its power to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state” and called on members of the “axis of resistance” to continue supporting Gaza despite “difficulties and sacrifices”.

“The Israeli danger cannot be dealt with by burying our heads in the sand, because the enemy has no red lines”, he underlined and emphasized that “our reaction will be strong and effective”.

“The retaliation hasn’t come yet”

As he explained, the Shiite organization now aims to hit new Israeli positions, “deeper into the country.”

Addressing Israel, which killed Hezbollah’s top commander Fouad Shukr, Nasrallah threatened that the group’s latest operations “have nothing to do with his promised retaliation, which has yet to come.”

Referring further to Shukr’s death, he admitted that his organization had suffered a great loss, but declared that “this does not weaken us or shake us.”

“We will not allow Netanyahu and the Zionists to defeat the resistance in Gaza and the West Bank,” Nasrallah said.

“Zionists want a Jewish state to be formed in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. They don’t care if there are Palestinians living there,” he argued. He added: “Everyone must understand the great danger of the criminal Zionists.”
