Hezbollah attacks with “Burkan” missiles and Israeli raids destroy a residential neighborhood in southern Lebanon

Today, Sunday, Lebanese Hezbollah attacked Israeli sites with “Burkan” missiles and drones, while Israeli raids destroyed a residential neighborhood in a town in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah said – in a statement – that it targeted the “Zabdin” and “Ruwaisat Al-Alam” sites in the occupied Shebaa Farms with Burkan missiles, hitting them directly.

Last November 20, Hezbollah fighters used heavy-caliber Burkan missiles to strike Israeli positions, including the Pranit barracks.

A day later, the Israeli newspaper “Maariv” said that the attack on the headquarters of the Israeli 91st Division in the “Branit” barracks caused major destruction to the targeted military site.

Earlier today, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted an Israeli army headquarters south of the “Yaara” barracks, off the western sector of southern Lebanon, with explosive drones.

The Israeli army announced that two of its soldiers were moderately injured, and others were slightly injured, as a result of shrapnel and smoke inhalation due to the interception of a drone launched from southern Lebanon.

The occupation army said that following this drone attack, its aircraft carried out strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanese territory.

For his part, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that 15 missiles were fired from southern Lebanon towards Israeli settlements in the Western Galilee.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent also reported that sirens sounded in the Western Galilee, where there are Israeli military sites.

Sheikh Ali Damoush, Deputy Chairman of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, said on Sunday, “The resistance will continue to exhaust the enemy, and will not stop unless the aggression against Gaza and Lebanon stops.”

Israeli bombing

Meanwhile, the Lebanese National News Agency (official) said that Israel escalated its attacks this afternoon on southern Lebanon.

The agency added that Israeli raids caused the destruction of an entire neighborhood in the town of Aitaroun, noting that many homes were leveled to the ground and others were damaged.

The Lebanese agency added that Israeli aircraft launched 4 raids on the outskirts of the town of Maroun al-Ras in the Bint Jbeil district, coinciding with artillery shelling targeting the outskirts of border towns.

For his part, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that Israeli aircraft and drones bombed the towns of Marwahin, Khiam, Yaron and Warmish, and Israeli artillery also bombed the surroundings of about 10 Lebanese border towns.

For its part, the United Nations peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced that its site was subjected to an Israeli bombing yesterday, Saturday, without recording any casualties, stressing that the bombing directly targeted the watchtower and caused damage to it.

The border region in southern Lebanon has witnessed a worsening military escalation between Hezbollah and Israel, since the Palestinian resistance launched the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, as part of Hezbollah’s support for resistance efforts.

According to a tally reported by Reuters, the escalation has so far resulted in the deaths of 85 Hezbollah fighters and 16 Lebanese civilians. There are 11 Israelis in Israel, including 7 soldiers.
