“Dr.” Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt, revealed the penalty for forgery or tampering with the medical examination certificate for those about to get married.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar explained, in a post on the official page of the Ministry of Health on social media, that the medical examination certificate is issued insured and documented through the QR Code to prevent tampering and forgery.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population added that the penalty for forging a marriage certificate is imprisonment for a period of up to 10 years, and the penalty for using it is imprisonment for a period of up to 3 years.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, confirmed that the marriage contract will not be documented at the legal authority or in churches except with a medical examination certificate, starting on February 26, 2023.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar indicated that the validity period of the certificate is 6 months from the date of the examination, as the results of the analyzes appear within a maximum of 14 days from the date of the examination.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population added that it is not possible to conduct examinations for those about to get married in private health centers, and they must be conducted within the approved centers of the Ministry of Health and Population.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar continued, that the old examination system consisted of a general examination without conducting any analyses, but now a number of laboratory tests have been added, including those related to genetic diseases.
