Heusenstamm – “It is not going well,” says Martina Kowtun. The owner of the tapas bar “Einfach Lecker” (Am Lindenbaum 12) in Heusenstamm (Circle Offenbach) offered her Spanish specialties with her team to be picked up even during the closure, but the business was rather bad. But it hasn’t looked rosy since the reopening. On Tuesday (May 19, 2020), just three tables were occupied by two people each. And Martina Kowtun has few reservations for the following days.

Heusenstamm (Offenbach district): Restaurant operators report first experiences after loosening corona

The situation is somewhat different in the restaurant “Zur Stadt Offenbach” (Frankfurter Straße 28). The regular customers are loyal to the “Katja”, reports Sandra Gilmer, daughter of the owner Mechthilde Grasmück. The pick-up service was also used by loyal guests during the closure. “Some people pre-ordered the food for a whole week,” says Gilmer. The beer garden has been open since the beginning of this week – with a reduced number of seats for 28 guests. However, the interior remains closed. The pick-up service continues.

Because the restaurant is very small, Roberto Schiliro has the trattoria “Zur Alten Linde” (Frankfurter Straße 120) in Heusenstamm not yet reopened. Only eight places remained if all rules were observed. Therefore, the restaurateur stays with the delivery and pick-up service and hopes to be able to offer guests on the terrace from the beginning of June.

Heusenstamm: Corona rules relaxed, restaurants open again – “People abide by the rules

“We have a fairly large beer garden,” which is already open, explains Sina Franusch from the TSV restaurant (Jahnstrasse 3). Despite the distance rules, 80 guests still have space there, and 16 in the interior instead of 60. She was positively surprised at how well the reopening was received. “People stick to the rules, few have to be made aware of the obligation to provide their data,” she says.

Only in the church square of Heusenstamm Beate and Salvatore Schiliro from Ristorante “Da Salvatore” in the Golden Lion (Schlossstraße 5) are currently serving their guests. There is no mask requirement for visitors. To do this, they have slightly changed the opening hours, opening half an hour earlier on Tuesdays to Sundays, i.e. at 11.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. They want to keep the pick-up and delivery service.

Menelaos Atmatzidis, who has owned the Kost-Bar im Schloss since November (Im Herrngarten 1), is also hoping for guests. He has adjusted to the rules, especially on the newly furnished terrace with an outside bar, radiant heaters and lounge in the courtyard, but also in the restaurant. In addition, despite the reduced number of places, he plans band appearances. It opens continuously on Saturdays and Sundays.

“We look forward to every guest who can enjoy their meal at our table in peace,” says Manfred Wenzel from the “Alte Scheune” (Frankfurter Straße 35). Sure, you had to sacrifice some places, but it had started quite well with the reopening. Many hosts praise the regulatory office, which very quickly checked compliance with the rules.
