HET is revoked, packaged cooking oil of various brands fills supermarket shelves, prices soar

BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – The government revoked the highest retail price (HET) of cooking oil since last Wednesday (16/3/2022) following the recent shortage.

HET cooking oil Previously applicable, it referred to the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 06 of 2022 concerning the Determination of the Highest Retail Price for Palm Cooking Oil.

HET cooking oil prices are set at Rp 11,500 to Rp 14,000 per liter.

When the price of cooking oil falls and matches the HET, the existence of these goods in the market becomes scarce.

However, after the HET was revoked, packaged cooking oil with various well-known brands is now starting to fill the shelves that were previously empty in a number of supermarkets.

In addition, in some modern retail, the price of 2 liter packaged cooking oil is almost IDR 50,000.

Packaged cooking oil with various well-known brands is widely sold starting at Rp. 24,000 for each 1 liter package.

Meanwhile, for the 2 liter packaging, the price of packaged cooking oil touched the price of almost Rp. 50,000.

One of the supermarket visitors, Wardhatul (24), complained about the soaring price of packaged cooking oil.

“It is very expensive, because it is not in accordance with the current economic situation,” Wardhatul told reporters, Monday (21/3/2022).

Another visitor, Rasyah (21), said that she was not too affected by the increase in cooking oil prices, but she was worried about the effects of rising cooking oil prices.

“Actually it’s normal, it doesn’t have much effect, but in my opinion it is very detrimental to many people, especially traders, afraid of the impact they use bulk oil to sell, so it’s not healthy,” said Rasyah.
