Hessen with many large cities and special features is located in the middle of Germany. That is what makes the state so special.
Hessen is this federal state in the middle of Germany. The southern part of the country is one of the most densely populated and economically strongest regions in Germany. When you think of Hessen, you also think of the state capital Wiesbaden and the most populous city Frankfurt am Main in the head.
The state is 21,114.94 square kilometers. 42 percent of the area is covered with forests, making Hessen one of the most densely forested countries in Germany. In 2019 the population was approximately 6.29 million Residents. Im Rhine Main Area most of the population lives.

On September 19, 1945 that became federal state founded under the name of Greater Hessen.
