The reactions of associations, organizations and the opposition in Hesse are very different. But hardly anyone is enthusiastic. Skepticism and criticism predominate.
Greens: The coalition agreement, a wordy nothing. This is the verdict of the Greens. No concrete suggestions for the major challenges of the time. A coalition of those who preserve the past and those who refuse to accept the future. There is no change in schools in view of the alarming results of the Pisa study and the Corona education gaps. Climate does not play a role in the layout of the ministries. The SPD was humiliated and had little say. At the same time, regulations for the work of civil servants in view of cannabis legalization would be requested and the development of Hesse would be distributed across three ministries. The Greens say it’s a complete mess. And gender is made a problem in the first place by the contract.
FDP: The Free Democrats find some useful things in the contract, for example on education, digital transformation and the commitment to the debt brake, according to their rather cautious assessment. But rural areas remain an appendage. Instead, there are de facto two social ministries: the Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Sport, Health and Care for the People CDUthe Ministry of Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs for the SPD.

The left sees a shift to the right
Linke: The Left sees an expression of society’s shift to the right in the coalition agreement. The powers of the police and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution are being expanded, civil rights are being restricted, the isolation policy is inhumane, and the culture wars are reactionary. Peppered with bizarre Hesse folklore, Black and Red want to go back to a past that never existed. The SPD has apparently completely given up on its social policy claims.
This is how it continues – the schedule
On Saturday, the 100 members of the CDU state committee and 100 guests will come together in Frankfurt for the small party conference. The SPD has invited people to an extraordinary state party conference in Groß-Umstadt (Darmstadt-Dieburg district) on the same day. The party is expecting 350 delegates and around 150 guests.
The coalition agreement between the CDU and SPD is scheduled to be signed on Monday, provided that the committees of both parties have agreed, which is to be expected.
The new Hessian state parliament will be constituted on January 18th next year. This begins the 21st legislative period. The new Prime Minister will also be elected on the same day. The election of the previous Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU) is considered certain. pgh
AfD: There is currently no statement available.
Business associations: The direction is right, according to the Association of Hessian Business Associations (VhU). The contract offers the opportunity for more economic growth and contains important corrections in the economy, transport, housing, raw material extraction, waste disposal and agriculture as well as migration and internal security. It is also good that children in primary schools should above all learn to read, write and count correctly and that this should be monitored nationwide.
IHK : With education, securing skilled workers, reducing bureaucracy and accelerating planning, the contract identifies the right points, says the Hessian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. However, there are few solutions to the lack of living space, especially in metropolitan areas where there is a shortage of skilled workers.
Praise and criticism from the unions
Trade unions: The interests of the employees are coming into focus and collective bargaining should be strengthened, praises the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB) in Hesse. The backward-looking migration and integration policy is critical. The planned public investments in infrastructure, education, housing, mobility, energy, social facilities and public services are inadequate.
GEW: The Education and Science Union believes that temporary employment contracts for substitute staff and the expansion of lateral entry and study places are good in order to address the shortage of teachers. The plan to record teachers’ working hours and bring more administrative staff to schools is also good. What is bad is the limitation of inclusion and the obligation to forego gender-appropriate language.
Transport associations: ADFC, VCD and Fuss eV welcome the fact that the CDU and SPD are committed to equal rights between modes of transport. To do this, areas would have to be distributed in favor of cycling and walking and more commitment to buses and trains would have to be shown. But it is an affront that the car should continue to be “indispensable”.
BUND: The conservationists from BUND cannot find any answers to the environmental policy questions of the future, neither in terms of climate protection nor in securing biodiversity. One would look in vain for ambitious climate and nature protection in the coalition agreement. Instead, more roads should be built. (Compiled by Peter Hanack)
