Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – In Hesse, 30 films and series are currently being funded with around three million euros. “Hessen Film & Medien is also supporting very different projects in this funding round, but above all the Hessian film talents. That is a particular concern of mine, as we are strengthening and further developing Hessen as a film location from within,” said Angela Dorn, Minister for the Arts and Culture (Greens) in Wiesbaden on Friday.
The highest sum, 650,000 euros, goes to the film adaptation of the novel “Allegro Pastel”. The Hessian author Leif Randt wrote the script for the 120-minute feature film, the story is about a long-distance relationship between Maintal in the Rhine-Main area and Berlin.
The state of Hesse, with a 90 percent stake, and the Hessian Broadcasting Corporation (10 percent) are shareholders in “Hessen Film & Medien GmbH”. According to her own statements, she is “the first point of contact” in matters of film funding in the federal state and has the task of strengthening the regional film and media industry.
