Hesse: After only one season: Frankfurt Galaxy parts ways with coach Roser

Status: 31.08.2024 19:49

Frank Roser was supposed to make the Frankfurt Galaxy’s offense more explosive. But things turned out differently. After just one season, the coach had to leave the Hessian football franchise.

As expected, Frankfurt Galaxy has parted ways with offensive coordinator Frank Roser after just one season. The coach’s contract expired after the 2024 season and will not be renewed. The franchise from the European League of Football (ELF) announced this on Saturday.

“We are grateful for his time in Frankfurt, his energy and the work he put into the team,” the club wrote on social media. They wish Roser “much success on his future path.”

Turnover machine instead of spectacle

Roser had only joined the Hessians from Innsbruck before the season to take the offense to a new level. Instead of a spectacular game, however, the fans saw failures, bad luck and mishaps.

With 14 interceptions and nine fumbles, the Men in Purple were one of the league’s turnover machines. Only four teams gave the ball away more often than the Hessians. The Galaxy were worse than ever, losing eight of their twelve games this season and missing out on the playoffs by a wide margin.

More full-time trainers in Frankfurt in the future

Even before the end of the regular season Galaxy had placed an online advertisementto find a new offensive and a new defensive coordinator. The not very credible statement from the club’s management that this is a purely precautionary measure, Head coach Thomas Kösling revised last week“We could have waited another week,” he admitted.

Kösling will – at least that’s what it looks like at the moment – keep his position as head coach. However, he will no longer act as defensive coordinator as he did in previous seasons. The Galaxy’s goal is to employ more full-time coaches in the future, similar to the most successful teams in the league. Currently, none of the Frankfurt coaches can make a living from football alone.
