Hesperia demands a ransom of 55 million euros from SEPI | Companies

The Hesperia hotel chain has requested 55 million euros from the fund to support the solvency of strategic companies managed by SEPI to face the crisis derived from the coronavirus, which has plummeted activity due to restrictions and the virtual absence of tourists and business travelers, as published on Saturday The vanguard and attributed to company sources.

“Various alternatives are being analyzed in order to further strengthen the financial position and keep the company in an optimal situation at the time of recovery in the tourism market,” according to these sources.

Room Mate, Hotusa, Serhs or Abades have also requested funding from SEPI due to the pandemic

Hesperia has about 4,500 rooms spread over 28 hotels, both holiday and urban, and some 1,800 employees on its staff. In 2019, before the health crisis, revenues stood at 137 million euros, with a consolidated net result of 15.5 million. But Covid has plummeted sales and led the company to a loss.

The firm has resorted to ERTE (temporary employment regulation files) and subsidized ICO loans, which are one year after their entry into force, but the persistence of the crisis still prevents their recovery.

The hotel group thus joins other chains that have requested financing from SEPI, such as Room Mate, Hotusa, Serhs or Abades, among others.
