Autonomous company Hertz has announced that it will not be in a hurry to purchase Polestar electric cars to supplement its rental car fleet. The two companies agreed in 2022 that Hertz will purchase approximately 65,000 Polestar cars, which should supplement the 100,000 Tesla cars ordered, but Hertz will not be in a hurry to fulfill this agreement for the time being.
The head of Polestar, Thomas Ingenlath, is not surprised unprepared, because he was informed about this decision by the chairman of the board of Hertz, Stefan Scher, in a conversation with Financial Times discovered by Ingenlath. He says Polestar is waiving the requirement to buy all 65,000 cars, but Hertz can’t sell its existing electric cars too quickly or too cheaply.

Although Hertz announced ambitious goals for the electrification of its fleet a couple of years ago, the autonomous company will not rush to meet them by selling some of the cars it has. This is due to a rapid drop in the car’s value, high repair costs and other factors that make the operation of these machines less profitable, especially in the case of autonomy.
