During Hertha Berlin’s training camp in Austria, a fight broke out with the goalkeeper of the relegated Bundesliga player. Marius Gersbeck allegedly beat up a 22-year-old man. He was questioned by the police and the club took action against him.

Police arrived at the scene and detained the bouncer for questioning. Now there is also an official response from Hertha Berlin to the incident that happened over the weekend.
– Due to the police investigation into our player Marius Gersbeck, we have decided to suspend him from team training until further notice. In addition, he left the hotel where the team is staying, said the club’s managing director Thomas Herrich, who was quoted by sport.de.

The footballer himself, in turn, did not speak publicly about the fight in which he participated. For now, he will have to take care of his form individually, probably until the final decisions in the case. A German source emphasizes that Gersbeck is an important figure in the team from Berlin.
He was brought to the German capital in the current transfer window from Karlsruher SC for €300,000. Marius Gersbeck is a student of the club from Berlin and, as sport.de emphasizes, an avid Hertha fan. It was supposed to be a symbol of the revival of the club, which was unexpectedly relegated from the Bundesliga last season.
That is why in the pre-season friendly matches he has led the Hertha team on the pitch as captain. He was also the first choice between the sticks for coach Pal Dardai.
The suspension of the goalkeeper means a big headache for the coach before the start of the 2nd Bundesliga, and the team from the capital of Germany will face a difficult clash with Fortuna Duesseldorf at the beginning of the season.
