Heron released from grid | NOS

Employees of the animal ambulance managed to catch a heron that flew around Almere Haven for days with ironwork around its beak. Previous attempts had failed, report Flevoland broadcaster.

This afternoon, employees of the animal ambulance Central Netherlands managed to approach the bird from two sides and catch it with a net. The ironwork has been cut off its beak and the damage seems to be minor. To be sure, he is observed for a while in the bird hospital Naarden.

The heron has flown around with the grid around its neck for at least a week. Nevertheless, the bird managed to eat, so it does not appear to be seriously weakened.
