Heroin Epidemic: Unveiling the Dark Reality of Cape Cod

Despite the idyllic appearance of the town, life in Cape Cod is far from ideal. In the film, it is reported that four young people die every day in the city, whose death was caused by drugs.

“Heroin in Cape Cod” shows the addiction of small-town youth to heroin, the countless deaths of young people and the insecurity of the streets after dark.

The focus is on eight young drug addicts. Young people tell how they turned to drugs, show their lives in the throes of addiction, which go hand in hand with overdoses, the death of friends and the grief of loved ones.

One of the main characters of the film is 24-year-old Nicole, who was the best in her college class before she started using heroin, at the age of 20 she was prescribed painkillers, which were later replaced by heroin.

In the movie it is claimed that 80% of heroin users started with prescription pain medication after an accident or surgery.

Nicole managed to live a double life for more than three years, so that her family had no idea about her addiction. As the addiction became more severe, the truth came to light and the addiction was joined by the parents’ despair and fear for their daughter’s life.

“Today.com” writes that a year after the release of the film, Nicole was drug-free and returned to college to study criminology.
