Heroic NYPD Officers Rescue Drowning Blind Dog in Queens

Two New York Police officers starred in the heroic rescue of a dog that was drowning in the waters of the Baisley Pond public park, located southeast of Queens.

As reported by the authorities themselves, the officers named Williams and Espósito received a 911 call to notify that the canine was in danger. The rescue occurred on Tuesday, at 8:35 in the morning.

They both entered the icy water and found “Sparky”, an 8-year-old Border Collie, who is also blind. Fortunately, he was able to survive and was reunited with his owner.

This was the rescue of the dog

The moment in which the officers entered the lake and breathed heavily due to the low temperature was recorded through the body camera.

They had to move aside a large number of branches to reach “Sparky”, who was completely hidden and motionless. It was impossible for him to get out on his own.

After removing him from the water, one of the officers put him on his back and carried him to dry land. Next, they reported that the mission was accomplished and put him in the back of the patrol.
