A fighter in the Northern Military District zone with the call sign “Shtrikh” saved a wounded colleague under fire while simultaneously driving a vehicle. According to the soldier’s story, he had to hold the wounded man with one hand and control the ATV with the other. On the way back, Shtrikh saved another military man who had been hit in the leg by shrapnel. The fighter told a URA.RU correspondent about this.
“Then the shelling was heavy. The guys from the neighboring regiment brought their wounded to us. “Mikhalych” call sign. The wound is serious. <…> I thought about calling my people to help, I turned my head, shouted to the boys, but they had all already run into the shelter and couldn’t hear. The shelling is ongoing. The explosions are getting closer. The mortar connected. But I am tied to the wounded man and cannot get rid of him. He began to pull the ropes down through his legs and get out. He got out and kicked this stone out from under the ATV. I sat back down, but could not fix “Mikhalych” by tying it to myself. He took one of his hands, pinned it under his left hand, and controlled it with his right hand,” Shtrikh recalls that day.
The fighter was still able to bring his colleague to the hospital. There he had surgery. I had to remove a kidney and part of my liver. And on the way back, the military man picked up another wounded man, who had been hit in the leg by a mine fragment. “Shtrikh” said that he would not have been able to save the first wounded man if there had not been an ATV nearby. The serviceman said that he quickly understood the situation, as he always remains calm.
