Hero who comes to the aid of a cop himself shot dead by the police | Abroad

John Hurley, 40, a citizen shopping nearby, didn’t hesitate when he saw a man shoot a cop in Arvada, Colorado. He warned everyone to get to safety, drew his own gun and then shot the copkiller down with your own hands. He had written in a suicide note that he would kill as many officers as possible.

After Hurley took out the suspect, he immediately took the gun from the shooter. That’s when the police reinforcements arrived. They thought Hurley was the suspect who had just shot their colleague and apparently another victim. An officer did not hesitate and opened fire on Hurley.

‘Samaritan’

“What happened next is equally tragic,” Police Chief Link Strate said in a video to explain to the public. Police call Hurley a hero and “a good Samaritan,” someone whose courage prevented much worse from happening. The police have received a lot of criticism on social media for the performance.

Hurley’s family released a statement Friday night saying they were grateful for the support from the city and the police. They say they are waiting for the results of the investigation into the shooting before filing a complaint against the Colorado police. What is certain is that an officer who shot Hurley is on administrative leave, which is considered standard protocol.

In the meantime, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched for Hurley’s relatives. In no time the counter is already at $ 50,000.
