While walking the dog on Kungsholmen in Stockholm, Zdena Neudenova saw a small note.
The sender was Åke who wanted to thank his hero.
– I felt that I wanted to share this, the hero is out there, says Zdena.
Zdena Neudenova lives on Kungsholmen in central Stockholm. During Friday, she and her partner were out on a dog walk in Rålambshovsparken.
Then she discovered that something was hanging on the footbridge – a small note on a string.
“THANKS! On the afternoon of July 12, I had a cardiac arrest here in Rålis. Thank you to those who performed CPR and called 112! You saved my life”it said, signed by one Åke Hansson.
– I was happy inside. It was very nice of the person in question to take the time to write and thank and try to reach out to the person who saved one’s life, says Zdena.

Zdena decided to give the note writer some help on the trot. She took a picture and posted the tribute in a local Facebook group.
By afternoon, over 600 people had liked the note. Many in the comments have also taken the opportunity to pay tribute to the unknown hero.
Now Zdena hopes that Åke’s greeting will reach.
– If you have been in that situation, you might want to know how it went. Especially when it went well.
Be among the first on the scene: “Delighted”
After this article was published, Leif Leganger contacted Aftonbladet. He was one of the first to arrive when Åke suffered a cardiac arrest.
Leif works on roadside assistance and is trained for this type of intervention.
– So I got such a cardiac arrest alarm. And then I was so close that I was down there in 30 seconds, he says.
There were a lot of people at the scene and two guys had started CPR. They continued until the paramedics got there.
Leif wondered how the man was doing – and was surprised when a friend got in touch who had read Aftonbladet’s article and connected it to the incident in Rålambshovsparken that Leif told about.
– I was thrilled. And that he is so alert already that he has gone out and put up this note!
– I have experienced a few cardiac arrests before and this is the first time someone has survived.
“Important to learn CPR – so you dare”
Leif would especially like to pay tribute to the two guys who intervened so quickly.
– This is often where the problem lies, if you don’t get this going, the oxygen to the brain quickly disappears. But there were many who were very talented and asked how they could help, there was a nurse who was on vacation who came and said she had the Sms-lifesaver app.
Leif wants to encourage more people to learn CPR.
– Often it is only a one-hour course. It is important to learn so that you can dare. Even if you don’t dare to blow, you can give compressions. It is always better to do something than nothing at all.
