Hero Alom tried again via Dhaka-17 but again his name failed along with seven other candidates because they were deemed not to meet the 1 percent vote requirement for independent candidates.

He said the decision was a lack of transparency in politics and was a conspiracy to trip him up.

“My candidacy paper was rejected due to conspiracy in 2018 election. Same thing happened this year in constitutional elections Bogra 4th and 6th and now Dhaka-17th. I filed a lawsuit against election commission. If I don’t get justice here then I will go to high court ,” he said quoted from The Business Standard.

The complaint was also well received by the Election Commission, Ashoke Kumar Debnath, who said that the lawsuit was accepted by them and granted the nominations of two names namely Asharaful Hossain Alom and Kazi Mohammad Rashidul Hasan for seats in the Bangladesh National Parliament.

A new election will be held on July 17 to fill the vacant seat left by actor Akbar Hossain Pathan who died on May 15.
