Herner slip brings Hannover Indians back to second place

Reading time: approx. 4 minutes

Exactly 50 goals were scored in five games. The devil broke loose in the Oberliga Nord on Friday and once again it was a shame that the fans couldn’t attend these great games.

At the top are the Hanover Scorpions, who were able to put another point on top of their ten point lead. Responsible for this were the people of Herne who, barely arriving in second place, suffered two defeats in a row this week. The Indians also seem to have a little slack at the moment, but with luck and skill they were able to fend off the revived hammer. The Leipzigers are still in fourth place and fifth are now the Tilburgers, who had to struggle with newcomer Herford more than they would have liked. Six and seven are followed by Halle and Hamburg, who both won their games. The teams in the lower ranks (Krefeld, Herford, Rostock and Hamm) lost their games, but very close.

Crocodiles Hamburg – Krefelder EV U23 4: 3 (3: 1, 1: 1, 0: 1)

Since the last KEV game against Herne, it was clear to everyone that the Krefeld team have become stronger and now the people of Hamburg know it too. In retrospect, they could speak of luck that they played brightly in the first third and deservedly led by two goals. Patrick Saggau (3rd) scored the 1-0, which Michal Bezouska (9th) made the 2-0 follow. After Michael Fomin (13th) joined the team, Patrick Saggau was able to restore the two-goal lead in a double outnumbered game. After 59 seconds in the second third, Dominik Lascheit scored to make it 4-1 and then the KEV was awake. The West Germans now went on the offensive and also scored. Matthias Onckels shortened to 2: 4 in the 35th minute, but then the KEV failed again and again due to the attentive defense of the Crocodiles. The third Krefeld goal came too late, Alexander Blank scored in the final minute.

Tilburg Trappers – Herforder EV 7: 4 (4: 0, 1: 3, 2: 1)

In this encounter, the Westphalian climber clearly showed that he intends to play until the end and does not give up early. In the first third, Reno de Hondt (5th, 20th), Max Hermens (11th) and Giovanni Vogelaar (16th) made it 4-0 and everyone thought that the rest of the encounter would be a lot of fun for the Dutch . The 5-0 win by Janne de Bonth (29th) supported this opinion, but Herford, who had been disciplined defensively until then, switched to the offensive and surprised the Trappers with a double strike. The Canadian defenders of HEV, Guillaume Naud (31st) and Christophe Lalonde (32nd) shortened to 2: 5 and when Ralf Rinke scored the third goal in the last minute, even the coach of the Trappers, Bo Subr , nervous. Fortunately for his coach, Max Hermens scored 6: 3 in the 42nd minute, but Herford were still in the game. Christoph Lalonde (44.) scored the 4: 6 and only the seventh Trappers goal by Kevin Bruijsten finally decided the game.

EC Hannover Indians – Hammer Eisbären 5: 3 (1: 1, 1: 1, 3: 1)

The newcomers gave the polar bears courage. With Tobias Schwab, who once also hunted goals for the Indians, and Michel Maaßen, the Hammer played defensively, very disciplined and they also had a strong keeper in Sebastian May, who in the end had a good 88.6 percent catch rate. The Indians matchwinner was Canadian Brett Bulmer (10th, 42nd, 60th), who after a short break in this encounter shone with three goals and thus decided the game. The other Indians goals came from Igor Bacek (29th) and Thore Weyrauch (43rd). Kevin Orendorz (16th), Igor Furda (26th) and Kevin Thau (49th) scored for the strong hammer, who never gave up until the fifth goal and were very close to their first point against the Indians.

Herner EV – Saale Bulls Hall 5: 6 (2: 2, 2: 1, 1: 2, 1: 0) nP

Do the people of Herne take their time off during the Christmas period? You have to ask yourself this question after the second defeat in a row, with six goals conceded again after the Krefeld encounter on Wednesday. However, the HEV has to be credited with that, the Bulls are also among the most difficult opponents to play and yet the Herner led 5: 3 after 42 minutes, only to be forced into overtime and a penalty shoot-out against the increasingly stronger Halleers will. Denis Fominych (14th), Christoph Ziolkowski (15th), Marcus Marsall (30th), Richie Mueller (40th) and Colton Kehler (43rd) met for Herne. The Bulls had their goal scorers in Lukas Miculka (9th), Leon Fern (19th, 60th), Kyle Helms (35th) and Michal Schön (46th). It was tragic for the Hernians that Fern saved Halle in extra time exactly nine seconds before the end of the game, and Kyle Helms, who scored five points, scored the decisive goal for the guests in the penalty shootout.

Hannover Scorpions – Rostock Piranhas 8:5 (2:2, 3:0, 3:3)

In this game they proved that the Rostockers can no longer be compared with the start of the season. They made the league leaders, who had meanwhile already been four goals ahead, sweat a lot and if they had forced extra time in the end, nobody would have been surprised. Two players were partly responsible for this spectacular goal. On the one hand Scorpions striker Patrick Schmid. Born in Nuremberg, who is otherwise an accurate shooter, he had an almost unbelievable seven assists and Matthew Pistilli from Rostock scored three strong goals. As usual, the Scorpions started with the lead, which this time Roman Pfennings achieved after just 51 seconds. Lukas Koziol, who like Pistilli also scored four points, equalized in the tenth minute. Roman Peleikis (Scorpions; 11th) and Matthew Pistilli (16th) made it 2-2. In the second third, which was visually balanced, the Scorpions were much more unerring than their guests, scored three goals through Tomi Wilenius (21st) and Julian Airich (33rd, 40th) and led clearly 5: 2. After Robert Peleikis (41st) went 6-2, the match seemed decided, but Matthew Pistilli (42nd, 48th) created tension with two goals and when August von Ungern-Sternberg (55th) even reduced it to 5-6 , everything seemed possible for Rostock. The Scorpions now had to switch to counterattack and did so very successfully. Roman Pfennings (57th) scored the 7: 5 and the Finn Tomi Wilenius (60th) the 8: 5 final score.
