Herman van der Zandt presented his last broadcast for the NOS on Friday evening. He presented From lifewhich commemorates people who have died this year, and concluded with a wink.
“Thank you for being with us,” Van der Zandt said at the end of the program. He then took the NOS logo from the top corner of the image and placed it in the inside pocket of his jacket, close to his heart. The presenter concluded by swiping himself out of the picture.
That gesture is a reference to the years when Van der Zandt presented the election results for the NOS. There he stood in front of the screen where the results came in and swiped the voting percentages on and off the screen. This earned him the famous nickname Herman de Schermman.
In July it was announced that Van der Zandt is leaving NOS after 23 years. Van der Zandt worked at NOS News for the first fourteen years, and in 2015 he switched to NOS Sport.
Van der Zandt will switch to the KRO-NCRV on January 1. That’s where he goes, among other things The smartest person present.
Van der Zandt will also be seen for the last time on Sunday With the Knife on the Table from Omroep MAX. In the New Year’s Eve special, well-known participants compete against each other in duos.
