In total, more than 700,000 people have watched Finkers’ film so far. This makes it the most visited Dutch film of the year.
The Beentjes of Sint-Hildegard by director Johan Nijenhuis talks about a couple from Twente who, after 35 years of marriage, are taking stock and wondering whether they are both really happy. The leading roles are played by Finkers and Johanna ter Steege. The Twente comedian also wrote the screenplay for the film, which is still running in almost a hundred screens.
The film has so much impact that film tours are now even organized to the pilgrimage church in the German wine town of Rüdesheim, which plays a major role in the story. Next week, the film will also be one of the major contenders at the presentation of the Golden Calves, the most important Dutch film awards. Nijenhuis and Finkers do not rule out developing another feature film together in the future.
