“I have to tell Lena that she doesn’t want to be in the picture with a big belly,” he said with a laugh. The writer said that he really hadn’t fooled with reality in his last column. In it he described, as always straightforward, how he was working on a book about everything he had recently experienced with Lena. ‘In the second chapter I tell about the visit to the doctor,’ the column says, ‘who confirmed the good news after an examination, and we fell into each other’s arms crying, and the doctor also shed a tear.’

Brusselmans previously admitted to ‘sometimes rattle the feet of journalists’. “But we’re really expecting a baby,” he says now. “We got the news two months ago. It also takes a little getting used to for me. We don’t know yet whether it will be a boy or a girl, all we have for now is a small photo of the fruit.’

‘When the child is born, I will be 65 years old’, Brusselmans said. ‘That is a bit confrontational, but I don’t see that as a negative per se. Lena and I are especially happy right now. We weren’t “trying”. It was not foreseen, not planned. It just happened.’
