According to her, the restrictions should be focused on those processes or human behaviors that contribute to the spread of the virus – contacts and human mobility.

“The next ones, if necessary, we hope that no, restrictions – now more restrictions than security measures – will be aimed at even stricter restrictions on the gathering and movement of people,” Nikķele explained, adding that what is happening in other countries is used as an example.

“We haven’t had to do it so strictly so far – for example, so strictly that even being outside the home is regulated,” the politician said of the restrictions imposed elsewhere. She found, among other things, that the experience of other countries showed that they would be even wider restrictions on trade. At present, only supermarkets in Latvia have separate shops on weekends, while there are countries where only pharmacies and grocery stores are actually open.

“We will not be able to come up with anything new and original. We will have to follow the path that many have taken. European countries, “summarized Herķele, while expressing hope that the existing restrictions will still be able to stop the increase in morbidity.
