In the state budget for 2023, the government proposes several tax changes. Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (Sp) assured that those who earn less than NOK 750,000 per year will receive less tax.

This is confirmed by the tax table in the balance sheet. But there will be no major changes.

Here are some examples:

  • 349,200 people serve between NOK 700,000 and 800,000. They maintain the current tax level.
  • Those who earn the most in tax relief are the 282,600 taxpayers who earn between 550,000 and 600,000 crownsr. They receive an average of NOK 2,000 in tax relief and a few hundred Swedish kronor in increase in wealth tax.
  • I 270,500 with annuity between NOK 250,000 and 300,000 will receive NOK 1,300 less in taxes with the government proposal.

At the same time, the government will raise the wealth tax. But for these groups, wealth tax increases are trivial.

So many people get tax breaks

According to the government tables, 3,005,900 will receive less taxes with the government proposal, while 1,551,000 will receive a tax increase.

The number of those receiving tax increases includes 372,700 people earning less than NOK 100,000. Many of these do not pay income tax due to low wage income, while on average they receive NOK 100 in increase in wealth tax.

These get more taxes

Government tables examine how changes in income tax and wealth tax play out.

If we look at those who receive a tax increase, the figures look like this:

  • There are 385,400 people earning between NOK one and two million. On average, they get NOK 2,300 more in taxes and NOK 1,400 more in wealth taxes.
  • Only when we reach a salary between NOK two and three million does the increase start to increase: they get NOK 9,900 more in tax and NOK 5,200 more in property tax.
  • The 23,900 Norwegians who earn more than NOK three million receive an average of NOK 67,400 more in taxes and NOK 28,500 more in wealth taxes.

In total, there are currently 4,556,900 taxpayers in this country receiving on average a total of NOK 300 in tax relief and NOK 500 in wealth tax increase.

46 billion in tax increases

The government’s proposal for the national budget increases taxes by NOK 46 billion next year in total.

Of these, businesses will be the hardest hit with tax increases of NOK 41 billion.

CRITIC: right-wing deputy leader Tina Bru.

The opposition reacts to large tax increases:

– Since last year’s elections, the Labor Party and the Center Party have raised taxes by $ 53 billion, says Tina Bru, spokesperson for the Conservative Party’s fiscal policy.

– The government says this is necessary to avoid welfare cuts. The same government can still afford to spend people’s money to create more counties and to reverse a judicial reform, a railway reform, a EBA-reform and more.
