Here’s what Metallica sound like playing one of their latest releases: “Borderline” by Thin Lizzy – Up to date

Metallica have released the official video of their rendition of “Borderline” by Thin Lizzy during the benefit concert Helping hands. (through NME)

The show took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on December 16, with all proceeds going to the band’s foundation, All in my handswhat “is dedicated to building sustainable communities by supporting education, the fight against hunger and other critical local services”.

The concert saw Metallica deliver two distinct sets, beginning with a five-song acoustic set: “Blackened”, “The Unforgiven”, “Whiskey In A Jar”, “Borderline” and “It’s Killing Me”the latter original from UFO.

The next set, already electric, lasted 14 songs, including the song that also names its foundation,”Everything in my hands”. The show also featured an appearance by St. Vincent to play”nothing else matters”. The quartet also performed their new single “eternal light”.

Metallica’s new work

The new album will be called ’72 Seasons’ and now everyone wants to know what’s new from Metallica. Well, we explain it to you. The term “Eternal Light” refers to a liturgical chant in the Catholic Mass that honors those who have passed away. Many speculations speak of the death of the founder of Megaforce Records Johnny Z is a possible cause, as well as honoring Cliff Burton.

Going a bit on the curiosities that the topic can have, he refers to the band diamond head, referring to them with lyrics “Thunderbolt the nation”. Also, keep in mind that the “Eternal Light” title may be an encrypted message that Metallica is here to stay and will never go away, or at least in the short term.

This term was already used by some artists, such as in the 90s when former Los Angeles Master Chorale conductor Morten Lauridsenwas inspired by his mother’s death: “Lauridsen composed the requiem ‘Lux Aeterna’ in 1997, the year his mother died”, explains a blog post from the San Francisco Choral Society.“The consolation for grief offered by the piece is often compared to Faure’s ‘Requiem’ and Brahms’ ‘Ein Deutsches Requiem’, both works inspired by the deaths of the composers’ mothers.”

Metallica will visit the Cívitas Metropolitano stadium in Madrid on Friday July 12, 2024 together with Architects and Mammoth WVH and Sunday July 14, 2024 together with Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills.
