WhatsApp opens access for users connected to the proxy server. This way, WhatsApp users can stay connected even if they are in areas that implement internet blocking.
This statement was made by Meta, as the developer of WhatsApp, on January 5th. For those of you who don’t know what a proxy server is, you can briefly explain that it is a device or software that acts as an intermediary between the user and the target website server. So in this case the proxy server is in the middle between the user and the WhastApp developer server.
When a server or intermediary is blocked in one area, it doesn’t mean that the WhatsApp service is completely dead. But only the connectors are disabled in that area. Therefore, being able to access the proxy server, WA users will not be affected by the block.

Users just need to find a working proxy server, then enter the proxy server address into the application. There are many free proxy servers around the world created by volunteers and organizations.
WhatsApp also guarantees that even connecting via proxy will maintain a high level of security. Your private messages will still be protected by end-to-end encryption, meaning messages will remain between you and the person you’re communicating with only. Your messages cannot be seen by other people, not even a proxy server, WhatsApp or Meta, aliases will not leak anywhere.
