here’s how to prevent them from switching from Mac to iPhone automatically

One of Apple’s strengths is the brand’s product ecosystem. Indeed, the interconnection of the devices of the Cupertino company is acclaimed by the fans. Moreover, our Tech section manager spent a year with a 100% Apple setup. Of course, AirPods are no exception. So your wireless headphones switch from one device to another automatically. While this is often practical, it can sometimes be frustrating.

How to turn off automatic switching of your AirPods from one device to another?

Thanks to the functionality “automatic switch” AirPods, you no longer need to manually disconnect and then reconnect to switch from listening on iPhone to your MacBook. But sometimes AirPods take the lead when you don’t want to switch to the Apple device closest to your headphones. And it’s annoying.

So yes, in theory, it is very practical. You listen to your favorite song on your iPhone, you get to work at your desk, and you want to keep listening on your MacBook. It’s almost magical. But in real life, that’s a different story.

For example, you’re listening to an exciting podcast on your iPhone and walking past your MacBook. Bam: automatic switch and you are disconnected from your iPhone while nothing is started on your computer. You haven’t asked anyone for anything, though. And it can happen several times a day. Fortunately, there is a solution to abandon this automatic switch from one Apple device to another.

iPhone, iPad: same fight. You have to go to the settings of your device, more precisely to “Bluetooth”. Then click on the “i” (information) next to your AirPods. Then you just have to go to “Connect to this iPhone” (or this iPad) and choose “When last connected to this iPhone” (or this iPad) instead of “Automatically”.

Regarding your MacBook, it’s slightly different. Go to your AirPods options in your computer’s Bluetooth menu. Then click “Last connected to this Mac” instead of “Connect to this Mac”. The problem is fixed: your AirPods will stay connected to your computer no matter what. Unless you do the maneuver manually.
