WhatsApp also continues to add new features. WhatsApp can now be used without depending on the phone. While the app isn’t huge, all the messages sent and received can quickly add up, especially if you’re in a group chat.
A few years ago, it was difficult to do anything, unless you enjoyed deleting message history. However, in late 2020, WhatsApp introduced a tool that allows users to manage storage more effectively.
Quoted from the page Tech AdvisorThursday (16/6/2022), here’s how to manage WhatsApp storage:
1. Make sure WhatsApp is updated to the latest version to iOS or Android
2. If you see a message saying storage is almost full at the top of the user’s smartphone screen, tap the message. Otherwise, tap on the three dots in the top right corner and select settings
3. Tap storage and data
4 Tap manage storage
5. You will now see an overview of how much data you are using, as well as the chats that are taking up the most space. Tap on any chat to view the largest files.
6. From there, tap on each file you want to delete or select the select all button.
7. Tap the trash can icon to delete it from the device.
If you use WhatsApp extensively, you may also see categories like forwarded many times or larger than 5 MB. There is currently no way to manage this from the desktop application.
