Furthermore, Disney Plus reported adding 7.9 million new subscribers to its platform in the first three months of 2022.
This was conveyed by the company through their 2022 second quarter (Q2) earnings report on Wednesday, as quoted from The Verge, Thursday (12/5/2022).
This addition brings a total of 87.6 million Disney Plus subscribers worldwide. This does not include Hotstar’s 50.1 million Disney Plus subscribers internationally.
In the United States (US) and Canada, Disney Plus already has 7.1 million more subscribers than last year, with 44.4 million subscribers.
Disney added that the subscriber count for all of its streaming offerings, including Hulu and ESPN Plus, has grown to more than 205 million. This is an increase of the 196.4 million reported in January 2022.
Citing Deadline, Disney Plus’ average revenue per user increased 9 percent to $4.35.
This is lower than other major streams as it is a low-cost add-on via Hotstar in India and other South Asian regions.
