NewsBulukumba – How does it feel to welcome and celebrate New Year AD in space?
For astronaut and cosmonaut from International Space Station tagged New Year, became the only 37th crew in history to be in space when Planet Earth began another revolution around the Sun.
Reported WartaBulukumba.com from Space, Saturday 1 January 2022, expedition of 66 crew members of King Chari, Tom Marshburn, Kayla Barron and Mark Vande Hei of NASA, Matthias Maurer of the European Space Agency (THAT) and Anton Shkaplerov and Pytor Dubrov from Roscosmos marking the day New Year as the space station circles the planet.

Right before New Year, the crew celebrated together with a traditional Saarland dinner hosted by Maurer, who is from Germany.
“I wish you all a happy new year & all the best for 2022! Cosmic greetings & #Cosmic Kisses,” Maurer wrote on Twitter alongside a video of the dinner time lapse. “See you next year!”
“It’s been a privilege to have the perspective of seeing so many countries,” Marsburn says in the video NASA who shared his thoughts on spending New Year in outer space.
“We can go from one side of the Earth to the other in just a few minutes and it really gives us a feeling of oneness for all humans around the world.”
