Here you do not have to pay tolls

In recent years, there have been more and more toll stations on Norwegian roads. The larger cities often have more toll rings. At the same time, new roads are part-financed with tolls. In practice you have to pay every time you drive the stretch.

But this week, several toll booths disappear, ahead of the original schedule.

In the revised national budget for 2021, the government parties agreed with FrP on a total of NOK 750 million in grants for six toll projects in the counties of Viken, Innlandet, Vestfold and Telemark and Rogaland.

Better everyday travel

What is happening here is that the collection of tolls is ending. The money allocated is used to cover what is still “missing” in the financing of the roads.

– It is very gratifying that the toll collection in as many as six projects ends on Thursday 1 July. The phasing out of the collection will provide a better everyday travel for people and businesses, says Minister of Transport Knut Arild Hareide, in a press release.
