Here you can shop while on vacation

Want to buy another gift quickly? Or roasted red cabbage? You can find out where it is still possible on public holidays in Düsseldorf in our overview.

If you haven’t managed to get all your presents in time for Christmas, there are still plenty of ways to make up for it in Düsseldorf, even on Christmas Eve. Many downtown shops are open until 2pm on December 24th.

For example “Douglas” on Flinger Strasse, “Galeria Kaufhof” on Königsallee or “Mayersche Buchhandlung” on Nordstrasse. The “Kö-Galerie” is also open until 2pm.

If you need more time, a detour to the airport is a good idea. For example, “Akia” offers smartphones, power banks and mobile phone accessories until 17:00 on December 24, “Flores Mercedes Sánchez” has flowers, “WHSmith” has books, and “Montblanc” has luxury stationery.

The other shops open to the public at the airport are all open until 5pm on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day most shops on the Arrivals level are open until 11pm and on the Departures level until 6.30pm.

Where to go for sandwiches and groceries?

Many supermarkets are still open until 2pm on 24 December. At the airport, “Rewe” offers shopping on Christmas Eve until 17:00, Christmas Day until 22:00 and Boxing Day until 23:00.

The bakers can offer fresh rolls throughout NRW on Christmas Eve until 2pm at the latest. On Christmas Day they are only allowed to open for a maximum of five hours and not at all on Christmas Day. Fresh pastries are only available where “travel needs” prevail. So at petrol stations, railway stations and airports.
