The biathlon championship of the republic was marked by farewells. Eva Puskarčíková finished her career in supersprints in second place. Other finishing competitors Natálie Jurčová and Tomáš Krupčík also heard applause from the champagne. Jessica Jislová and, surprisingly, Tomáš Mikyska were happy with the titles in the Břízky complex in Jablonec.
Puskarčíková ran most of the final of the supersprint third, but she managed the last shooting item cleanly and moved to the silver position. She slapped the fans at the stadium, she was given a flower right behind the finish line, a champagne shower and she was greeted by a banner saying “Evo, thank you”.
She hugged her national team colleagues and, like Krupčík and Jurčová, flew through the air while planing. “If you ask me what it’s like, I’ll start crying,” said the 31-year-old biathlete. “Thanks for coming and cheering for us all the time, whether it works or not. I will also cheer now, from the couch,” Puskarčíková added. On the way to the podium, she signed and took pictures with the fans.
The women’s super sprint was dominated by Jislová, who took the lead after the first flawless shooting and made the least mistakes in the four-item race – three. “I am glad that I managed to shoot at home as well,” said Jislová, this year from the Czech national team the best shooter of the season. Markéta Davidová took the third place in the last round, the parting Jurčová was fourth.
Mikyska dominated the qualification, went to the finals first and did not let anyone in front of him. He missed only one target out of twenty and won almost 20 seconds ahead of junior world champion Jonas Mareček. “It’s normal, race like race,” said the winner.
The best Czech biathlete Michal Krčmář was fifth after six mistakes on the shooting range, he did all of them standing up. Krupčík’s last career placement is seventh.
