Here is their first electric car in Norway

2021 is the year for new car brands to Norway. One of them is Cupra, which is now in the process of building up here at home.

If you are above average car enthusiast, you probably know that the name belongs to Seat – which in turn is under the VW umbrella.

Cupra was for a long time the name of the most sporty models of the Seat. But now they are cultivated as a separate brand.

Today, Cupra premieres its first electric car in the Norwegian market. It is called Born, has 204 horsepower, up to 424 kilometers range and a starting price in Norway of 307,000 kroner.

Thinking new

The premiere is set in Oslo and one of those present there is Broom’s editor-in-chief Vegard Møller Johnsen.

– It is always exciting with “new” car brands and Cupra is also thinking new in many areas. They are also, in my opinion, one of the brands in the Volkswagen Group that does the best job on design right now. This is both elegant and sporty, Born is a car that should have good potential in Norway, says Vegard.

Cupra Born is the sister model to VW ID.3. Born has received a good deal of extra decorations, but you are still in no doubt that this is the same car.

Sister model for VW ID.3

Born starts with the battery size of 58 kWt, a variant the Norwegian importer expects to make up a high share of sales. During the year, Cupra also opens for Born versions with larger and smaller battery packs, 77 and 45 kWt (net), respectively.

And if you think there is something very familiar with the design of this car, then you are not mistaken. Born is the sister model to VW ID.3. The two parts platform and technology and very much of the design are also similar.

The same is the prices. ID.3 in Pro version and the battery pack of 58 kWt starts at 308,300 kroner. If you are considering these two, you should therefore take a closer look at the equipment that is included. Born is delivered with a sports chassis, progressive steering and sports steering wheel as standard. The same goes for heat in the steering wheel and heated washer nozzles. Born can receive up to 110 kW for fast charging.

On the equipment front we also find copper details, unique wheel suspension, sports chassis, progressive steering, diffuser, side skirt with contrasting color and sports seats.

Has no dealers

Cupra will not have traditional dealers in Norway. Here the cars are ordered via an online store. Customer service is solved through Cupras’ representatives in the showroom, chat on the website and a device for customer service through the importer Harald A. Møller.

Service and repairs are done through Cupra’s collaboration with Møller’s 22 service points in the other brand chains, from Kristiansand in the south to Tromsø in the north.

Cupra also focuses on home delivery of the cars, this is done via its own Cupra truck.

Like quite a few others, Cupra runs an introductory model here, called Born 58 First. It has a solid equipment package in place, the price is 339,000 kroner. Included in this is also three years of service and free home delivery, the latter applies as far north as to Verdal. This model should be ready from around New Year.
