We all know about smart TVs, but do you know about smart monitors? Normal, there is not really on the market. Samsung is launching a Smart monitor equipped with an operating system allowing you to connect to online services like Netflix or YouTube, without even turning on your computer!
An instructor that allows you to work, learn and have fun
Samsung is therefore launching an innovative screen that allows you to do everything, or pretty much. It offers connectivity with mobile devices (phone or tablet), computers of course, but also the Smart Hub portal, a complete entertainment center that strangely resembles the one integrated into the Samsung Smart TV platform.
Users can plug their phone or tablet into it with the tap of a finger, using Tap View, App Casting or Apple AirPlay. It is also possible to connect to the Smart Monitor using Samsung Dex.
Monitor or computer? You decide!
But what’s really interesting is that the Smart Monitor is able to run office applications, like Microsoft’s Office 365 suite, without even being connected to a computer! It is therefore possible for users to read, edit and save documents in the cloud, directly from the screen, since it is equipped with a built-in Wi-Fi connection.
And, thanks to that same Wi-Fi connection, it is also able to connect to a remote computer to access its files, if desired.
A monitor for entertainment
Obviously, with so many features, needless to say that it is possible to stream your favorite content there, even if the screen is not connected to a computer, phone or tablet.
You can even navigate through the applications using the supplied remote control, as if it were a television.
Samsung’s Bixby Assistant is also integrated, and it is possible to control it by voice.
It also offers comfortable viewing technology, thanks to its adaptive picture that optimizes picture quality for any type of viewing environment. An automatic brightness and color temperature adjustment function, as well as an eye protection mode that reduces blue light, ensuring the user a comfortable viewing experience.
M5 and M7: two models and two sizes
The Samsung Smart Monitor comes in two models, M5 and M7.
Samsung M5 Smart Monitor
The M5 model is offered in two versions: 27 inch and 32 inch. Both models display 1080p resolution, and are compatible with the HDR10 standard. They offer one HDMI 2.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports.
Samsung M7 Smart Monitor
The M7 model is offered in a 32 inch, and displays 4K (UHD) resolution. It is equipped with an HDMI 2.0 port, 3 USB 2.0 ports, as well as a USB-C port (65 W charging).
All models are equipped with Wi-Fi 5 and run on Samsung’s Tizen 5.5 operating system.
